Upland Conservation

As the effects of climate change become apparent to land managers and policy makers, the importance of preserving Ireland's peat bogs and moors has been realised. Peat - often known as turf in Ireland - constitutes a large part of Ireland's carbon stores and much of it is in a degraded state either through acid rain, drainage, wildfires or overgrazing. We have experience in restoring peatland by re-vegetation and re-wetting using a broad range of methods.

Management can be carried out far upstream of the towns and villages that have experienced catastrophic floods in recent years. We have skills in installing various devices to 'slow the flow', and catch sediment before it washes into the water supply.
